Daniel Avery – Knowing We’ll Be Here [PHLP02]

“After being signed to the ‘Phantasy’ label, owned by Erol Alkan, Daniel Avery’s debut album, ‘Drone Logic’, was born in Alkan’s back garden studio, made using only analogue equipment. It was created with the intention of locking in the audience and taking them on a journey through sound – definitely the right idea.

Inspired by Chemical Brothers, Underworld and Four Tet, a trippy vibe is created by his rhythmic and psychedelic swirls and space-like aura, leaving an intriguing trail. ” Musical Roundabout, YouTube

Knowing We’ll Be Here is one of my favourite tracks, feature below, but the whole album can be streamed here.

Panama – Its Not Over (Ejeca’s Rave To The Grave Remix)

EJECA brings his pumping garage basslines, notably from Horizons, into this lovely remix of Panama’s latest single. This track takes you on a nicely energetic yet chilled journey, with that underlaying funky bass keeping the pace broken up with a lovely old school piano section.

Enjoy

The last dance at Plastic People

Friday night was a terribly sad day for the London electronic music scene as it saw Plastic People open it’s doors for one last dance after the sudden announcement it was closing. It was a truly special space, some very touching words from Floating Points and the clubs wonder Ake can be read on the Guardian.

I was blessed to have visited that truly super black hole of sound, and it was hands down the best vibes I’ve ever felt at a club. Completely pitch black bar the DJ lights, a set of vinyl decks and glorious sound system, it was such a genuine setup; truly allowing the selectors space to shine with all manner of songs sounding excellent. All is not lost however as the owners are quoted saying “We will not be opening our doors in 2015” hinting at the possibility of a new venue and potential re-opening next year?

To sooth your pain , Floating points and Four tet who played the last dance were nice enough to record the whole set and host it online. Here them tango two tracks each B2B all night, it is something very special indeed…
